We are pleased that your group will visit the Benicia Historical Museum.
The docent-led tours of the Museum, Powder Magazine, and the Early
California Outdoor Activities take approximately 2 ½ hours.
There must be a minimum of one adult for every five students. The
success of the Hands-On Program depends on the parent volunteers. A
docent will be available to assist only. Please prepare your group prior
to your arrival by reading the hands-on materials to both students and
adults.
In the Outdoor Activities (c. 1837-1870s), students will learn about
many items used during this time period. Students will then break into
groups and rotate through the following stations depending upon your
time schedule and the number of adults in your group.
♦ Water hauling and steer roping ♦ Bucket brigade ♦ Adobe brick making
♦ California Indian pictographs ♦ Corn grinding ♦ Laundry
Students should dress appropriately. Please avoid jewelry or clothing,
which may become damaged by water or mud. Some activities may be
substituted during rainy weather.
