Pacific Mail Docks c. 1881
Pacific Mail Docks now Benicia Agricultural Works c. 1881

Baker and Hamilton purchased the Pacific Mail Dock and plant in 1879 and brought the Sweepstake Plow Company to Benicia and opened the Benicia Agricultural Works.  The plows became famous and the plant employed about 400 workers manufacturing plows, wagons, farm implements, mowers and harvesters.  In 1914 it sold out to Yuba Manufacturing which also made farm equipment but was more famous for its gold dredges.
